A warm welcome is number one on our list. We understand that you are may be a little apprehensive at your first visit to a chiropractor – not knowing what to expect can often make anyone feel a little nervous. However, at My Chiropractic Place, the moment you enter our warm, friendly environment you will be made to feel totally at ease.
Our experienced team will do whatever it takes to ensure your visit with us is a pleasant one. To ensure we provide the best and most appropriate chiropractic care for your unique situation, our chiropractors will guide you through the following introduction process.
Your chiropractic doctor will begin by taking a detailed history of you and your particular complaint. This is to help us understand what could be causing your problems and how we can best help you.
The first part of assessing your spine and nervous system (for the presence of subluxations) involves detailed observation. We look at aspects such as the curvatures of your spine, your posture, the level of your hips, shoulders and head, how your legs orient and how you walk.
We then use an instrument called a Neurocalometer (or Nervoscope) to measure spinal skin temperature changes that result from subluxations. The Nervoscope is a highly sensitive instrument that is uniquely used by Gonstead chiropractors.
Static palpation is the method of feeling your spine and the surrounding structures. Your doctor will feel for any swelling, areas of tenderness and muscle spasm to help in accurately finding your subluxations.
Your chiropractor will then assess the quality and quantity of movement of each of the bones in your spine. This also helps in locating which of these bones (vertebra) is subluxated.
Various tests may also be used to assess the state of your joints and nervous system, and the impact that subluxations have on these systems.
Once your chiropractor has determined where your subluxations are, it is necessary in most cases to take weight-bearing (standing) x-rays of your spine. As your safety is paramount at My Chiropractic Place, spinal x-rays not only help in precise adjustments of your subluxations, but also help identify any possible pathology, fractures or other conditions that we need to know of. All required measures are taken to ensure that your spine x-rays are taken with the least amount of radiation as possible.
